The Ogden Tigers were the 49-24 winner over the South Summit Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Ogden took a 42-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Summit on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that Ogden has lost by exactly eight points.
When it comes to explaining why Ogden lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ruth Larsen. Despite the final result, she scored seven points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. Larsen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Nestel, who scored six points along with three steals.
Leading South Summit to victory were Mariah Bowen and Emma Broadbent. Bowen scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Broadbent dropped a double-double on 21 points and 22 rebounds. Broadbent is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Ogden has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for South Summit, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ogden will face off against Ben Lomond at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Ben Lomond is ranked 108th, while Ogden is ranked 112th). As for South Summit, they will head out on the road to square off against Grantsville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grantsville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 259 points over their last four matches.
