The Pearce Mustangs will face off against the Berkner Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pearce is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Richardson on Wednesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 8-1.
Meanwhile, Berkner came into Tuesday's match having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Lake Highlands with a sharp 13-7 win on Tuesday. The Rams not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 14th.
Maehle Lawerence made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. Lawerence was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Jasmyne Bell was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Heidi Shehan, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Berkner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Highlands only posted an OBP of .472.
Pearce has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12-1 record this season. Berkner's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-14.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pearce hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Berkner struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Pearce's way against Berkner when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Pearce made off with a 19-7 win. Does Pearce have another victory up their sleeve, or will Berkner turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
