Alhambra is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Piedmont is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Alhambra Bulldogs will take on the Piedmont Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Alhambra came up short against College Park and fell 35-28.
Alhambra's defeat came about despite a quality game from Beau Blau, who rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 155 yards and a touchdown. Blau was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Piedmont sidestepped Newark Memorial for a 29-26 win.
Markos Lagios continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 59 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 234 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Sam Shelby, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
College Park's win bumped their season record to 4-6 while Alhambra's defeat dropped theirs to 7-3.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Alhambra has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 203.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Piedmont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 184.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
