The Lewis-Palmer Rangers waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 65-58 victory over Palmer Ridge. Given Lewis-Palmer's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Palmer Ridge is ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lewis-Palmer had a senior duo take command as Cohen Edmondson scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and Damarion Jelks scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jelks has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Johnson, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Palmer Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jimmer Weir, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Weir is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Mason Kay was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Lewis-Palmer is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Palmer Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Lewis-Palmer will head out on the road to challenge Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Lewis-Palmer likes a good challenge. As for Palmer Ridge, they will be playing at home against Air Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Air Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
