The Chatfield Gophers will venture away from home to  face off against the Lake City Tigers  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Chatfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2  runs per game  this season.
Chatfield took a loss when they played away from home  on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed  on Wednesday. They came out on top against Kasson-Mantorville by a score of  7-3.
 Brynn Horsman was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and one  stolen base. That  home run was  her first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Makenna Dornack, who  went 1-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI.
 They weren't the only ones working in the  home run department: Chatfield  lost a few balls and  finished the game with two  home runs. That's the most  home runs they've posted since back in April.
 Meanwhile, Lake City fought the good fight in their extra-innings  contest against Dover-Eyota  on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of  9-8. The  defeat   continues a  trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.
 Chatfield's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Lake City, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
 Chatfield took their  win against Lake City  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024 by a conclusive  11-1 score. Will the Gophers repeat their success,  or do  the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
