Emily Fierros was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Selah Ramirez was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Magic Warner, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs.
Highland Prep West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Tempe Prep came up short against ALA - Mesa North on Thursday, falling 42-22. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Taylor McCallen was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with eight stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bren Sarca, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Highland Prep West has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tempe Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Highland Prep West's way against Tempe Prep in their previous meeting back in March, as Highland Prep West made off with a 21-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the unknown since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
