The Southwest Legacy Titans will square off against the MacArthur Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. MacArthur took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Southwest Legacy, who comes in off a win.
Southwest Legacy's tournament run continued when they took on SA Roosevelt on Saturday. Southwest Legacy blew past SA Roosevelt 10-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.
Jaden Pena was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Ian Macias and Stevan Rocha did most of the damage at the plate: Macias scored three runs and stole six bases while going 1-for-2, while Rocha scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Rocha a new career-high in stolen bases. Ethan Macias was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Southwest Legacy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as SA Roosevelt only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, MacArthur came up short against Sotomayor on Saturday and fell 6-3.
Like Southwest Legacy, MacArthur also got a great game from a two-way player: Andrew Moneer. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Moneer was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
Moneer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was J.T. Gray, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Southwest Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for MacArthur, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southwest Legacy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like MacArthur struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
