Estero is 5-0 against Island Coast since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Estero Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Island Coast Gators at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Estero focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Estero pushed their score all the way to 60, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to South Fort Myers 66-60. Estero has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lee Eckman, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Drew Arrington, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Island Coast, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-45 loss to Cypress Lake on Tuesday.
Like Estero, Island Coast lost despite seeing results from several players. Kobey Babernitch led the charge by scoring 17 points. Babernitch scored a full 37.8% of Island Coast's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Izaiah Bacchus was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Estero now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Island Coast, they now also have a losing record at 1-2.
Everything went Estero's way against Island Coast in their previous meeting back in February of 2021 as Estero made off with a 57-32 win. Will Estero repeat their success, or does Island Coast have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
