Sullivan County is 1-9 against Bucktail since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Griffins will host the Bucks at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bucktail will be up against a hot Sullivan County team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Griffins were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over Sayre on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Griffins have beaten the Redskins on their field since May 11, 2022.
Emilia Viveiros spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kayla Fowler and Mariah Hallabuk did most of the damage at the plate: Fowler went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs, while Hallabuk went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Hallabuk is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. Bailey Bogart was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sullivan County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Bucktail made sure to put some runs up on the board against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech on Wednesday. The Bucks put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 20-2 win. The Bucks haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Carrie Ditty made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ditty was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makenna Stone, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Rebekah Conway, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Sullivan County's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Bucktail, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sullivan County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .523. However, it's not like Bucktail struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
