After a string of five wins, the Sheehan Titans's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Newington by a score of 46-44. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sheehan in their matchups with the Nor'easters: they've now lost three in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bela Cucuta, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Hope Romanello was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
Sheehan's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Newington, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Sheehan will head out on the road to challenge the Gaels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Titans are ranked 12th). As for Newington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
