Purchase Line hasn't had much luck against Curwensville recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Red Dragons will host the Golden Tide at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Purchase Line has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Friday, Purchase Line didn't have quite enough to beat River Valley and fell 5-3.
Rylee Adams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Curwensville came into Tuesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Juniata Valley 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Tide have posted since May 22, 2024.
Addison Siple spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Natalie Wischuck was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ava Olosky was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Purchase Line's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Curwensville, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Purchase Line has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Curwensville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Purchase Line suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Curwensville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Red Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
