The Hoover Patriots will face off against the Torres Toros at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hoover will be strutting in after a victory while Torres will be coming in after a loss.
Torres will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Hoover extended their winning streak to three two weeks ago. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Roosevelt. Considering the Patriots have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hazel Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Layla Jimenez was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mya Del Rio, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Hoover lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Torres lost 12-3 to Chavez on Tuesday.
Torres saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mylah Avila, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. J'lynn Mitchell was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
Hoover pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Torres, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Hoover might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Torres when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Patriots have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
