The Olympia Spartans will head out to take on the New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olympia has given up an average of 32.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Olympia ended up a good deal behind Williamsville and lost 50-36. Despite 102 more yards than the Bullets, the Spartans couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the defeat, Olympia got top-tier performance from Jimmy Lollar, who rushed for 240 yards and two scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Lollar showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 61 yards. Kaden Collins also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, as they earned their first away win of the season. They came out on top against Pittsfield by a score of 27-14 on Friday. The Vipers haven't had any issues with the Saukees recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Olympia better keep an eye on Michael Pecoraro. He was instrumental in New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly's win, rushing for 145 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.1 yards per carry.
New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Conner Stinson, Charlie Neuman, and Evan Spencer picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Pittsfield's side was Cash Thomas, who made 13 total tackles.
Olympia's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Olympia has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 390.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 161.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Olympia couldn't quite get it done against New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 21-14. Thankfully for the Spartans, Clark Anthony nelson (who rushed for 132 yards and a pair of scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
