Xavier is on a three-game streak of home losses, and St. Mary Catholic a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Xavier Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs at 4:30 p.m. St. Mary Catholic took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Xavier, who comes in off a win.
Xavier will bounce into Friday's contest after beating New London, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Hawks walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Bulldogs on Thursday.
Morgan Staszak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Xavier came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Mary Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Zephyrs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
