Make it six blowout wins for the Harvest Prep Warriors this season. They took their match at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 67-28 victory over Columbus Academy. Given Harvest Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Columbus Academy is ranked 525th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Harvest Prep to victory were Israelle Smith and Maliyah Lofton. Smith scored 15 points along with nine blocks and four steals, while Lofton scored 20 points along with three steals. Lofton is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Mo?nae Gamble was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and six steals.
Harvest Prep's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Columbus Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harvest Prep will challenge Urbana at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Peyton Mounce and Lofton. As for Columbus Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Columbus School for Girls at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
