Denver City is 1-9 against Littlefield since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Denver City Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Littlefield Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Denver City comes in on three and Littlefield on 14.
Last Friday, Denver City had just enough and edged Dimmitt out 46-44.
Meanwhile, Littlefield put the finishing touches on their 18th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 86-43 victory over Muleshoe. Given Littlefield's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Muleshoe is ranked 1175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Denver City's win bumped their record up to 19-13. As for Littlefield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 26-3 record this season.
Denver City was taken down by Littlefield 73-25 when the teams last played back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Denver City was down 31-4.
