The Marietta Blue Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Hillgrove Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Marietta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
Marietta has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 61-54 to Harrison.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Elisa Malone, who scored 17 points. It was the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Frances Storey, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Harrison typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Hillgrove proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 61-53 victory over the Hoyas. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hillgrove.
Marietta's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Hillgrove, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14.
Marietta barely slipped by Hillgrove in their previous meeting back in January, winning 62-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marietta since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
