The East Robertson Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Houston County Fighting Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Robertson is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
If East Robertson beats Houston County with 43 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Indians took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 43-12 win over East Hickman County. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-6.
East Robertson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kason Young, who threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Those 331 passing yards gave Young a new career-high. East Robertson's leading receiver Cade Brooks was Young's top target yet again, picking up 136 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

East Robertson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Lane Bruce led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.1 total tackles per game.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Houston County and Hickman County, and Houston County kept the tradition alive. The Fighting Irish walked away with a 26-14 win over the Bulldogs on Friday.
East Robertson better keep an eye on Preston Mitchell. He was instrumental in Houston County's win, rushing for 163 yards and two scores. Mitchell also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Houston County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 226 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
East Robertson's record now sits at 7-0. As for Houston County, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Everything came up roses for East Robertson against Houston County when the teams last played back in August of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-12 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mitchell, who rushed for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Indians still be able to contain Mitchell? There's only one way to find out.
