The Windham Eagles will face off against the Gorham Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Windham comes in on four and Gorham on five.
If Windham beats Gorham with 18 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Eagles blew past Massabesic 18-1 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Addison Caiazzo, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Yani Kostopoulos, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Windham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Gorham had just enough and edged out Bonny Eagle 4-3 on Monday.
Bella McBrady spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Gorham saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer VonderHaar, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Lily Tukey was another, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Windham pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Gorham, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Windham hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .453. However, it's not like Gorham struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Windham took their victory against Gorham when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
