The Westlake Demons will head out on the road to square off against the Normandy Invaders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Westlake has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Wednesday, Westlake didn't have quite enough to beat Bay and fell 4-3.
Nicholas Sherwood was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Sean Brouillard was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Jung, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Normandy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Buckeye. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Normandy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Wolf, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Normandy's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Westlake, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Westlake's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Demons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Normandy, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Westlake continue to outrun the ball?
Westlake was able to grind out a solid victory over Normandy in their previous meeting last Wednesday, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Demons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
