The Collinsville Kahoks can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They snuck past Father McGivney Catholic with a 40-36 victory. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Collinsville was the better team in the second half.
Leading Collinsville to victory were Talesha Gilmore and Ella Guererro. Gilmore scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Guererro scored 19 points along with three steals. Gilmore has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played.
Despite the loss, Father McGivney Catholic still got an impressive performance from Izzie Venarsky, who scored five points along with six rebounds and four steals. Jada Zumwalt was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Collinsville's win bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Father McGivney Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-9.
Collinsville will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Father McGivney Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Indians at 7:30 p.m.
