Basketball Game Preview: Webster Warriors vs. Pawhuska Huskies

The Webster Warriors will head out to square off against the Pawhuska Huskies at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Webster will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating McLain Science & Tech, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Webster pulled ahead with a 45-44 photo finish over McLain Science & Tech on Tuesday.

Webster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Terrance Franklin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Franklin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hondo Avington, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Pawhuska was able to grind out a solid win over Newkirk on Thursday, taking the game 51-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.

Webster better focus on containing Dax Godsey and Darien West as the pair were huge in Pawhuska's win. Godsey went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points, while West went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and six boards. Lane Kyler was another key player, putting up six points.

Pawhuska's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-8. As for Webster, their record now sits at 7-9.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Webster has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 29.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Pawhuska struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
