Renaissance Academy fell victim to Calvary Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Cougars. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost six in a row.
Renaissance Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janek Rittinger, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple was Rittinger's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Bristol beat Palisades 10-6 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Cole Guy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Guy was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last five games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eddie Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Joey Ortiz was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Renaissance Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Bristol, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Renaissance Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bristol struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
