Basketball Recap: Rio Lindo Adventist Takes a Loss

If Rio Lindo Adventist was feeling good fresh off their 37-16 takedown of Pleasant Hill Adventist Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The game between the Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans and the Victory Christian Academy Eagles didn't end well, with the Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans falling 40-21. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Despite the defeat, Rio Lindo Adventist saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sascha Norman posted seven points along with eight boards and five steals. Norman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Gibson, who earned five points along with six boards and four steals.

Rio Lindo Adventist dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Victory Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Rio Lindo Adventist will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pacific Union College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. After both having extra time off, Victory Christian Academy and South Fork will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
