The 2010
MaxPreps' U.S. Air Force All-America Team includes five Texas high school players and two from the Dallas area: Aledo running back
Johnathan Gray and Denton Ryan defensive lineman
Mario Edwards. Gray and Edwards are expected to be the top two Dallas-area recruits in the Class of 2012.
RECRUITINGIrving Nimitz wide receiver and defensive back
J.J. Gaines has orally committed to Texas Tech. Gaines was the leading receiver last season for Nimitz, catching 56 passes for 823 yards and 11 touchdowns. …
Centennial (Frisco) senior Austin Bolling, the 2010 district champion in the 110 and 300 hurdles, has orally committed to Baylor for track and field, according to The Dallas Morning News.
FINAL THOUGHTIt would be easy to mistake Coppell running back Cam McDaniel for Flower Mound running back
Hunter Lee. Each of the seniors is about 5-foot-11 and close to 200 pounds, solidly built. Each was a versatile back who showed he could run and catch passes in a high-powered offense. McDaniel rushed for 1,906 yards and 32 touchdowns and caught 40 passes for 492 yards. Lee rushed for 1,390 yards and 23 touchdowns and caught an astonishing 104 passes for 1,419 yards and 11 touchdowns. McDaniel has orally committed to Notre Dame. Lee has orally committed to, uh, well … he doesn't have an offer.
Lee doesn't even have an offer from an in-state Football Championship Series school. He's been offered preferred walk-on status at a few schools, including Boise State, but that's it. It will be interesting to see if a team swoops in to snag Lee in the final weeks before signing day.
