Even though the Ponderosa Mustangs scored an imposing 62 points on Tuesday, the ThunderRidge Grizzlies still came out on top. ThunderRidge secured a 67-62 W over the Mustangs. Given ThunderRidge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while the Mustangs are ranked 33rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead ThunderRidge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charlie Spann, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Crawford, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Ponderosa's loss came despite strong showings from Carson Keach and Dylan Karsteter. Keach scored 22 points along with two steals, while Karsteter scored 20 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Wilhelm, who scored 11 points.
Ponderosa struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as ThunderRidge pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
ThunderRidge pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Ponderosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
ThunderRidge will head out on the road to square off against the Sabercats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Castle View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Ponderosa, they will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
