Albuquerque Academy's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Hope Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.
Melissa Purcella made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklynn Dominguez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Callia Jesurun also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Del Norte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 24-1 to Bernalillo.
Albuquerque Academy pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Del Norte, their loss dropped their record down to 3-20.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Albuquerque Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Del Norte struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Albuquerque Academy took their victory against Del Norte in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
