Timpview hasn't had much luck against Cottonwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Timpview Thunderbirds will host the Cottonwood Colts at 3:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Timpview sitting on three straight wins and Cottonwood on four.
While Timpview didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 16-12 victory over Duchesne on Thursday.
Max Clark and Jordan Christensen were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Clark struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Christensen pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave Clark a new career-low in earned runs. At bat, Clark scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Christensen scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Christensen has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Tyler Weed and Beckham Woodward did most of the damage at the plate: Weed went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Woodward scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those four RBI gave Weed a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliot Myers, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Cottonwood beat Taylorsville 5-2 on Monday.
Cottonwood also got a great performance from Milo Crayk as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brighton Young, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dominick Fuchuck, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Timpview pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cottonwood, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Timpview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Cottonwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .378. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
