After each having a week off, the Trenton Tigers and the Taylor County Bulldogs will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Two weeks ago, Trenton didn't have too much trouble with Central as they won 39-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Wyatt Vanlandingham and Alexzander Henry. Vanlandingham rushed for 161 yards and one score while picking up 8.9 yards per carry while Henry rushed for 136 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries. Jackson Gentry also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.
Trenton's run defense was locked in: Central could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Zane Mcardle for the heroic effort on defense: he. Trenton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged nine.
Trenton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brant Bivens, Jorey Quinones, and Henry picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Taylor County strolled past Leon with points to spare last Friday, taking the game 43-28. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Lions are ranked 311th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trenton better keep an eye on Jabez Glanton. He was instrumental in Taylor County's win, rushing for 180 yards and one score while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Trenton's record now sits at 7-3. As for Taylor County, their record is now 9-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Trenton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 235.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Taylor County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 232.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
