The Wise Pumas waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They skirted past Douglass 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wise to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayson Frost, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Frost has scored all season. Alexis Obase was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Douglass' loss came despite strong showings from Kwari Harvey and Emmanuel Carson. Harvey scored 18 points, while Carson scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Carson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Solomon Lewis, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Wise has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Douglass, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
Wise will head out on the road to square off against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Potomac will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Pumas are ranked 48th). As for Douglass, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Hornets at 7:15 p.m. One thing working in Surrattsville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
