Meanwhile, Shelbyville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were beaten by New Palestine 35-0. While losing is never fun, the Golden Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Dragons are ranked 19th).
The win got Mt. Vernon back to even at 4-4. As for Shelbyville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
