Jonah Lessard and Herman Thomas provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Mira Loma. The connection went for 91 yards, the longest such play in Capital this season.
Antelope extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rio Americano, 46-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Titans.
El Camino's dynamic duo of Lessard and Thomas proved tough for the Matadors to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lessard threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns and Thomas had 195 yards receiving. Drew Hassenplug helped El Camino's passing attack out by catching three balls for 66 yards.
Jonathan Crippes was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 133 yards on 14 carries as Antelope topped Mira Loma. Titus Vinson also contributed to the rushing game with 110 yards on the ground.
Andrew Huskey made the biggest impact on defense this week as Whitney beat Cordova. The 6-foot-2 senior recorded one fumble.
5-foot-11 quarterback Mark Lyon of the Raiders is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1524. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. On the ground, the Wildcats' Sutter Choisser has rushed for 1087 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tyler Winston. The Antelope star has 41 catches for 586 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Whitney takes on second place Antelope. Last week, Whitney bested the Lancers, while Matt Ray's team defeated Rio Americano.
The Titans' Crippes needs only 60 yards against Mike Gimenez's team next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Crippes has rushed for 940 yards on 120 carries so far this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Wildcats take on Antelope. Whitney has allowed 83 points this season, while the Titans have given up 130. The Wildcats allowed 8 points last week as they bested Cordova.
El Camino moved up to 366 from 411 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Adam Reinking's team climbed the ranks as a result of beating Kirk Anderson's team 50-14.
