After flying high against the Lincoln Lancers on Wednesday, the Adams City Eagles came back down to earth. Adams City took a serious blow against Skyview on Thursday, falling 68-26. Adams City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-6.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ruby Aguilar, who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Morgan Williams was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 13 rebounds and five steals.
Adams City struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Skyview racked up 25 assists.
Leading Skyview to victory were Leila Estrada and Nevaeh Lucero. Estrada scored 13 points along with seven assists, while Lucero scored 12 points along with nine steals and five rebounds. Lucero also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaqueline Pinon, who scored ten points.
Adams City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Skyview, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.
Adams City will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Aurora Central at 7:00 p.m. Skyview won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Northfield will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
