The Utica Academy of Science Atoms's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Syracuse Academy of Science by a score of 64-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Monday (55), Utica Academy of Science still had to take the loss.
Utica Academy of Science's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Doneilious King j.r, who scored 21 points along with six assists and two steals, and Jazier Brown who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assist. Akol Machteng was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Utica Academy of Science were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Utica Academy of Science's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Syracuse Academy of Science, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Utica Academy of Science will take on Bishop Grimes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Grimes has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 319 points over their last five contests. As for Syracuse Academy of Science, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Henninger at 6:30 p.m. Henninger comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
