Softball Recap: St. Mary's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

St. Mary barely beat Agua Fria the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went the St. Mary's Knights' way against the Agua Fria Owls on Friday as the St. Mary's Knights made off with a 10-3 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

St. Mary's let Giahni Ruiz and Marianna Hernandez run wild. Ruiz got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Hernandez scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Sierras, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

The win got St. Mary's back to even at 1-1. As for Agua Fria, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Looking ahead, St. Mary's will be taking part in a tournament against Odyssey Institute at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Agua Fria, they are taking a road trip to take on Shadow Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
