They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past United 62-60. Given Conemaugh Township's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Lions are ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Conemaugh Township was led to victory by Jon Updyke and Colin Dinyar. Updyke scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Dinyar dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Updyke has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times he's played. Ethan Matera was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Conemaugh Township's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. As for United, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
