The Cole Cougars had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came out on top against Great Hearts Northern Oaks by a score of 60-47. Given Cole's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Great Hearts Northern Oaks is ranked 701st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cole to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ajian Hasadinratana, who scored 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Livingston, who scored 14 points along with seven assists.
Great Hearts Northern Oaks' loss came despite strong showings from Ryan Matson and Caden Collins. Matson scored 19 points along with six rebounds, while Collins scored 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Matson has scored all season.
Cole has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. As for Great Hearts Northern Oaks, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cole will take on Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marion knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Cole likes a good challenge. As for Great Hearts Northern Oaks, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Luling at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Luling is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
