The East Brunswick Bears will face off against the Monroe Township Falcons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
East Brunswick took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Old Bridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Knights 3-1.
Hayden Dziubeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Joe Spinello was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Kenul, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Monroe Township was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against South Brunswick as they made off with a 13-3 win. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Monroe Township also got a great performance from Ohm Desai as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, Justin Mangano and Ryan Olmo did most of the damage at the plate: Mangano went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Olmo went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most runs Mangano has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jake Lobue, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Monroe Township always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Brunswick only posted an OBP of .391.
The win got East Brunswick back to even at 1-1. As for Monroe Township, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
