South Platte is 7-0 against Kimball since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The South Platte Blue Knights are on the road again and plays the Kimball Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. on February 13th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, South Platte gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Creek Valley 56-31. With that win, South Platte brought their scoring average up to 50 points per game.
South Platte's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Johanna Frerichs, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Madison Cheleen, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Frerichs is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaerihya Doncheske, who scored three points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Kimball over Hemingford in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Kimball was the clear victor by a 43-22 margin over Hemingford. The win was just what Kimball needed coming off of a 56-24 loss in their prior match.
South Platte is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Kimball, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.
Everything went South Platte's way against Kimball in their previous matchup back in January as South Platte made off with a 62-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Platte since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
