It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Troy had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against the Palmer Bulldogs as they made off with a 17-1 win. Jae Jae Phillips was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Melanie Zapata was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Troy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmer only posted an OBP of .308.
Troy is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Palmer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-15-1.
