Even though Bloomington Central Catholic has not done well against Quincy Notre Dame recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Bloomington Central Catholic walked away with a 71-64 win over Quincy Notre Dame. The victory was all the more spectacular given Bloomington Central Catholic's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Quincy Notre Dame is ranked 13th).
Bloomington Central Catholic relied on the efforts of Cate Uhren, who scored 23 points along with eight assists and two steals, and Lauren Emm, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Emm has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Shanks, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Paxton-Buckley-Loda didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Iroquois West on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 42-36 win. The victory was just what Paxton-Buckley-Loda needed coming off of a 48-21 loss in their prior match.
Bloomington Central Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-20.
Everything came up roses for Bloomington Central Catholic against Paxton-Buckley-Loda in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-23 win. With Bloomington Central Catholic ahead 42-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
