It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Currituck County Knights ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 43-36 victory over Hertford County. Currituck County's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Currituck County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Leonard, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Leonard has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Riley Parker, who scored eight points along with 19 rebounds.
Hertford County's loss came despite strong showings from Jaliyah Mitchell and Brooklynn White. Mitchell dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while White scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Currituck County's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Hertford County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Currituck County will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pasquotank County at 6:00 p.m. Pasquotank County is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Hertford County, they will head out on the road to face off against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
