Cape Hatteras is 1-9 against Manteo since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Cape Hatteras Hurricanes will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Manteo Redskins at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, everything went Cape Hatteras' way against Northeastern as Cape Hatteras made off with a 28-9 win. The Hurricanes have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Audrina Huss was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Huss was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Taylor Hickman was incredible, going 5-for-6 with six runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Gracie Wyatt was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Manteo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Holmes 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Redskins, who have now won three games in a row.
Makenna Gray spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 7 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Manteo's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Peedee Berry, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
The victory got Cape Hatteras back to even at 1-1. As for Manteo, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Cape Hatteras suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Manteo when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Cape Hatteras avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
