The Hay Springs Hawks put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 69-33 win over Gordon-Rushville on the road. Hay Springs has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.
Hay Springs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Young, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Young is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Gage Mintken was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Hay Springs' victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Gordon-Rushville, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hay Springs will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sioux County on January 25th. Sioux County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Hay Springs is ranked 81st). As for Gordon-Rushville, they will head out on the road to square off against Alliance at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
