Baseball Recap: Delasalle Wins Going Away Against Richfield

DeLaSalle barely beat Richfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Islanders put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 11-3 win on Monday. Considering the Islanders have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Andrew Faust, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. DeLaSalle is undefeated when Faust posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. Charles Gillette was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

DeLaSalle's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Richfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeLaSalle will venture away from home to challenge Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Richfield, they will head out to face off against Kennedy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
