After a string of six wins, the Whale Branch Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell to Bamberg-Ehrhardt 61-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Kevin Jenkins and Greggory Gilbert certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Jenkins scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Gilbert scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Bradford Thompson, who scored six points along with three steals.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chanston Crosby, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Eric Parker was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Whale Branch's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9. As for Bamberg-Ehrhardt, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whale Branch has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Yellow Jackets at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Branchville is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Bamberg-Ehrhardt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Allendale-Fairfax has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
