Two dominant backs in Tremayne Hill and Hayden Drinkard are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Katy Tigers will face off against the George Ranch Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Katy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully George Ranch likes a good challenge.
Last Thursday, Katy humbled Mayde Creek with a 54-7 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-0.

Tony Manuel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 90 yards and two TDs on only seven carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 61 yards. Braylon Pettaway also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.
Katy didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Mayde Creek to a completion percentage of just 40%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Aferi Davies and David Oluto-Judah, who each logged one passes deflected. Katy hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.4 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, George Ranch got themselves on the board against Alief Hastings on Friday, but Alief Hastings never followed suit. They breezed past the Bears to the tune of 31-0. The Longhorns pushed the score to 24-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears had little chance of recovering from.
Katy better keep an eye on Tony Morrison. He was instrumental in George Ranch's win, throwing for 228 yards and four touchdowns. Morrison's passing game has become a key predictor of the Longhorns' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-5 otherwise.
George Ranch didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Luke Diamond was the real danger to the passing game, picking up two interceptions all by himself. He was another major factor on D, making seven total tackles and snagged two interceptions.
Katy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.7 points on average over those games. As for George Ranch, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Katy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 361 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like George Ranch struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 187.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
