Chesterton Academy has been on the road for four straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Ramah Mustangs at noon on Saturday. Chesterton Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Chesterton Academy faced Grady in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Chesterton Academy took a serious blow against Grady, falling 54-0. While losing is never fun, Chesterton Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico football rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Grady is ranked fifth).
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Ramah brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They blew past New Mexico School for the Deaf 91-45 on the road.
Skylor Roberts was a one-man wrecking crew for Ramah as he rushed for 225 yards and seven touchdowns on only ten carries. Roberts was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Larson, who rushed for 52 yards and two touchdowns.
Chesterton Academy's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-0 Gateway Christian and 11-1 Mountainair (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 57.1% over those games). As for Ramah, their win on Thursday bumped their record up to 3-3.
Chesterton Academy was dealt a bruising 74-26 loss at the hands of Ramah when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Chesterton Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road?
