It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Gruver Greyhounds had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Shamrock at home to the tune of 49-14. The victory was nothing new for Gruver as they're now sitting on six straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gruver to victory, but perhaps none more so than Briggs Satterfield, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Pratt McLain, who rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Despite the loss, Shamrock still got an impressive performance from Philip Cook, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 333 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Rodney Holmes was another key contributor, picking up 133 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Gruver has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Shamrock, they bumped their record down to 5-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Gruver will take on Ralls at TBD on Friday. Shamrock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
