Make it seven blowout wins for the Santa Cruz Cardinals this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Harbor 67-31 on the road. Given Santa Cruz's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Harbor is ranked 803rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Santa Cruz to victory were Ben Dotten and Demarco Hunter. Dotten scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, while Hunter scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Demeke Smith was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Santa Cruz pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Harbor, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Cruz will take on Oakland at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oakland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Harbor, they will play host again and welcome Kirby Prep, where tip off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
